Trust and data

What Ami keeps, what you control, and who helps us run it.

What Ami keeps

  • The pages you pick for Ami to learn from, and any files or answers you add.
  • Visitors' questions and Ami's answers, so you can read them in Conversations.
  • A name and email, only when a visitor chooses to leave them.
  • Sales after a chat: order number and value, if you switch sales tracking on.
  • A random number for each visitor's browser, so you can compare visitors who chatted with those who didn't. No name and no IP address. Forgotten after 120 days, and kept in the browser only once the visitor allows analytics on the shop's cookie banner.
  • Remembering a returning visitor (on by default, the owner can switch it off): with that browser number, Ami looks at the chats it already keeps, from the last 30 days, for what the visitor asked last time. Nothing more is stored. It needs the number, so it only works once the visitor allows it on the shop's cookie banner, and it stops when they withdraw that or the chats are deleted. During one visit, a chat carries from page to page through a random chat number kept in the browser tab until it closes.
  • On plans with Observation, and only as the shop's cookie banner allows: where on the page visitors hesitate (clicks that went nowhere, repeated clicks, scrolling back, long pauses), the product options they choose and what they search for on the shop, which assist they saw, and what they did next. No keystrokes, no form contents, no recordings, no IP addresses. Detail is turned into anonymous totals after 30 days.
  • Never card numbers. Stripe holds them.

What you control

  • A nightly check that replaces phone numbers, emails, addresses and card numbers in chats with placeholders.
  • How long chats are kept: 30 days to a year, or until you delete them.
  • Observation and assists each have their own switch. Checkout, basket and account pages are never observed.
  • Download everything, or delete your account and all its data, from Settings.
  • Two-step sign-in, and access levels for each person on your team.

The AI

Ami's answers are written by Claude, from Anthropic, using only your pages and content. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, what we send is not used to train their models. Visitors see that answers are AI, and Ami says so if asked.
